10,767 Volunteers make a million visits a year to people in need.

In this Diocese between 1 April 2000 and 31 March 2001 the 132 members made 5,979 visits to those in need. The SVP respects religious liberty and values all people. The aim is to help those visited to be as independent as possible. We believe in being non-judgemental … but it is very practical. Examples of our work are the support of the elderly and housebound people by visiting, shopping, arranging appointments etc; families, we may provide emergency financial help, furniture, clothing, or holidays for those in need. We also visit the sick, transporting people to church etc. The list is endless. Training is available to all members to ensure that they are equipped to carry out their work in a competent manner.
