Happy Retirement Cathy!
On Friday 5th May, Cathy Coppack who has devoted over 22 years service to the Diocese as Bishops Secretary and PA, will retire. Cathy has been 'the voice' behind the telephone and the 'fount of knowledge' at the Curia for over two decades, serving under Bishop Edwin and Bishop Peter.
Written in a correspondence to the clergy of the Diocese, Bishop Peter said:
"None of us could have found someone more dedicated to and knowledgeable of the Diocese than Cathy. Her joy, her efficiency, her patience, all under-pinned by her quiet, robust faith. The Diocese and the Church have much to be thankful for, but a new chapter in her life is to begin. The Trustees and I are, I know, joined by you and the whole Diocese in wishing Cathy a very happy, relaxing and enjoyable much deserved retirement. Our loss is of course her family’s gain and so we wish many joyful times to her Mother, her husband Roy, and their sons and grand-children for years to come, having the continued blessing of her love and care. Assuring her of our remembrance of her in prayer we wish Cathy every blessing and good things she would wish for herself and for her family and friends."
Parishes, Religious Communities and Schools throughout the Diocese sent expressions of thanks to Cathy in great number, which is a testament to the high regard in which she is held.
A small reception was held at Bishop's House last week in honour of Cathy's service to the Diocese, where work colleagues and clergy, both past and present joined her in celebration of her retirement.
Cathy will be missed greatly for her work and dedication by the entire Diocese, but we are both thankful and grateful for all that she has done and wish her every blessing and happiness for the future!
