Thursday, 20th October marked the tenth anniversary of the joint Church Foundation School of St Joseph's Catholic & Anglican High in Wrexham.
The occasion was marked by a special joint service held at the school which was attended by all pupils, staff, the Bishop of St Asaph and the Bishop of Wrexham. Also present were past heads, governors, teachers, pupils and local dignitaries.
The theme of the celebratory service was "Life in all its Fullness' where pupils led the service with readings, music and drama. The Rt Reverend Dr Gregory Cameron (Bishop of St Aspah) and the Rt Rev Peter Brignall (Bishop of Wrexham) led the prayers during the service and also preached the homily.
Mr John Kenworthy (The first Head teacher of St Joseph's Shared Church School) recalled how ten years ago, he approached Bishop Edwin, the former Bishop of Wrexham to discuss the possibility of setting up a joint Faith School in Wrexham... From that first conversation, Mr Kenworthy said that the idea grew and grew and since the inception of the joint school it has grown into a great success. Mrs Maria Rimmer (the most recent former head teacher at the school) said that the school is a precious and special community of faith, friendship and fellowship. It is a community which fosters respect, exploring our connectedness in Christ and is a place of phenomenal achievement.
To conclude the celebrations, Bishop Gregory and Bishop Peter planted a tree in the grounds of the school to commemorate this great anniversary in the life of the school.
