The Diocesan Advent Family Day took place on 27th November at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Buckley.
Parents brought their children and grandparents brought their grandchildren from many parts of the Diocese to come together for an afternoon of activities which saw them take home Advent Wreaths for each family, Christmas lanterns, tree decorations and much more all made by the families themselves. All the activities and crafts reflected the nature of Advent as a season of penitence and waiting, and looked towards the celebration of the nativity.
There was a quiz and a game of Advent bingo, where an air of competitiveness broke out among the adults and children, before everyone took part in an Advent Service, based around a giant Advent Wreath with lots of singing and participation during which Bishop Peter blessed the Advent Wreaths and the parents lit the first candles.
Everyone then enjoyed hot dogs and mince pies before taking all their crafts home. One family travelled from Llandudno to attend their third Advent Family Day and said ‘it doesn’t feel like we are preparing for Christmas until we have been to the Advent Family Day’
