Need to talk?

All relationships have ups and downs, but sometimes they can get a bit stuck and it’s hard to talk things through or get to a positive solution. That’s when help from a skilled couple relationship counsellor can make all the difference. Whether you are feeling things just aren’t quite right or whether you are encountering serious difficulties, Marriage Care are there to listen and to support you towards a positive outcome.

As one client said:
“Counselling gave us time and space to talk without arguing, and the chance to discuss how each other was feeling.”

Their relationship counselling service is delivered through one or more 50 minute sessions with you and your partner, or with you alone if you prefer.  Sessions are usually face-to-face and are completely confidential. You will be given a regular weekly appointment which is yours for as long as you need it, as agreed with your counsellor.  How long you continue with counselling depends entirely on your individual need.

Marriage Care have been supporting relationships for over 65 years. They have over 200 counsellors offering their time and expertise at over 100 locations across England and Wales.  All of their counsellors have gone through a formal selection and training process, with ongoing professional development and regular supervision to ensure good practice is maintained.

Marriage Care is a registered charity and don’t charge a fixed fee for their counselling service, apart from an initial registration fee of £10 to secure your place on their waiting list. You will never be turned away because you cannot afford to give very much but they do ask all counselling clients to give a donation in advance of each session of counselling.  All their counsellors are highly trained professionals but they receive no payment for the sessions they provide – giving their time on an entirely voluntary basis. However, in order to maintain their ongoing training, supervision and the overall service each session costs Marriage Care around £65.

The Appointments Service will ask for your first donation over the telephone when they are in a position to offer you an appointment and donations for all future sessions will be handled directly by your counsellor.

Marriage Care are now able to offer this service in the Wrexham diocese, if you think it will help please call them on 0800 389 3801 or email to book a session. You can also view their relationship counselling FAQs .
