CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE AND MARRIED LIFE – THE BIG PROMISE

Picture
The first Diocesan Celebration of Marriage and Married Life was held on February 8th at the Cathedral to coincide with National Marriage Week UK.  It was a great success with an estimated 300 people, representing over 1900 years of marriage between them, joining with Bishop Peter to recognise and celebrate the importance of marriage.  The theme of Marriage Week UK this year was The Big Promise and Bishop Peter in his homily reminded us that the marriage vows are probably the longest lasting and most important promise we will make in our lives.  All the married couples present and in particular those celebrating significant anniversaries during this year were invited to renew their vows together during the mass.  Fourteen couples that were present are to celebrate their Golden wedding this year and six couples present are celebrating their Diamond wedding or more than 60 years of marriage this year.

The festivities continued in the hall after mass with a
buffet prepared by the Ladies of the Cathedral PAC and Mr and Mrs T Murphy of Llay and Rossett parish, who have already celebrated their Diamond Wedding in
January, cut the celebration cake.

The Marriage and Family Life Commission would like to congratulate all who are celebrating significant anniversaries this year and thank everyone who contributed to or attended the Mass for making the event a success.
